Located on an aquamarine paradise, Fun Island is designed to encapsulate the true definition of luxury resort. Privately corralled by a natural lagoon, the design of the 100 villa resort is as exquisite and exotic as its location.  

Fun Island is going to be rebuilt after being damaged by the tsunami in 2004. The island is located in South Kaafu Atoll, i.e. to the south of Male. Travelling distance from Male is about 45 minutes by speedboat. The island has an area of 113,610.95 sq m.

The island is surrounded by a white, sandy beach. As the resort on Fun Island was damaged by the tsunami, operation has been stopped, and some buildings and facilities on the island are dilapidated. As the island is located in the Kaafu (South Male) Atoll, there are many resorts located nearby within the same Atoll, for example, Cocoa Island and Laguna Beach Resort.

The close proximity to the airport makes it very convenient and to visit as the transfer time and cost is lower.

The island is currently designed by renowned architect and Maldives local Mohamed Shafeeq from GX Associates. the resort fuses elements of island-inspired Maldivian architecture with the warm textures of a contemporary interior design. Mohamed Shafeeg is also credited with the design a number of high-end resorts in the Maldives such as Four Seasons and Soneva Gili.
